Unaccompanied children

Any passenger under the age of twelve (12) must be accompanied by a passenger seventeen (17) years of age or older at all times.

Passengers between the ages of twelve (12) and sixteen (16) years of age may travel unaccompanied if all the following conditions are met:

*The trip should be direct (no transfers)

*The trip can be a maximum of 8 hours in duration (each way), between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

*The departing and arriving stations must be full serviced agencies or company operated facilities (not curbside stops) The station should be scheduled to be open when the child’s bus is scheduled to arrive. Use our bus stop location tool to help you find these important detailed

*The person named on the Unaccompanied Child Form who is meeting the child must have positive photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state-issued ID card. Without the correct ID, the child may be released into the custody of Child Protective Services or to local law enforcement

 

The (child) passenger’s ticket can only be purchased at the departing terminal at the standard full fare walk-up fare. If traveling round-trip, two one-way tickets should be purchased at the point of each departure (one ticket for the going trip purchased at the departing station and one ticket for the return trip purchased at the return station).

A parent, guardian or legal custodian of the child must complete and sign the Unaccompanied Child Form (available at the ticket counter) authorizing the child to make the trip and return this to the Customer Service Supervisor on duty. This form specifically names the person authorizing the trip and the person meeting the child at the destination station and the telephone number(s) at which this person may be contacted. It also provides an emergency contact name and telephone number in the event it is needed.  The Unaccompanied child form is to be obtained and completed at the departure terminal on the day of departure for each trip.

An additional fee of $17.00 will be applied to each ticket order/one-way trip for each unaccompanied children. The fee should be paid in cash at the departing location when purchasing the bus ticket and completing the Unaccompanied Child form. If traveling round-trip, the $17.00 fee should be paid once when departing, and once again when returning.
